Brown Bag Lecture at SCSU

On Wednesday, October 27, Dr Jim Krause presented a Brown Bag Lecture to faculty at South Carolina State University as part of the Center for Health Outcomes and Capacity Building among Underserved Populations with Neurologic Injuries. The purpose of the presentation was to describe research opportunities that are available through the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) of the United States Department of Education and to help build capacity in applying for research grants. Dr Krause desribed team experiences in applying for NIDRR funds and provided a historical building block approach that includes population identification, collaboration building, and proposal development. He also included a brief overview of the summer students that have been part of the team mentor program in order to highlight the success of this endeavor.

Dr Krause's presentation, "Funded Research of Studies Relevant to Disability: Funding Opportunities through the Department of Education” was very well received by the junior and senior faculty members that attended the lecture. We plan to host additional presentations targeted toward research professionals over the life of the grant.
